Esther ~ Grapevine Bible Studies

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
My kids LOVE Grapevine Studies! In fact, it is one of the subjects that they actually ask to do! Yes, I get squeals of glee whenever I pull out our Grapevine notebooks! So, or course my kids were thrilled when they saw the Esther Grapevine study!

Esther Bible Study

From Grapevine: Travel back in time with your children and teens as they study the book of Esther. Bible students will begin their in the ancient Persian Empire, as King Ahasuersus banishes Queen Vashti and begins a search for a new queen. Watch as a beautiful young Jewish woman named Esther becomes the new queen. Learn how God used the courage of Esther to save her people from an evil plot to kill them all. Discover how God used the creativity of Mordecai and Queen Esther to defend the Jews from Haman's destruction. Finally, teach your students how the celebration of Purim became a yearly holiday!

Esther Bible StudyThe Esther Study is a multi-level study that contains 9 weekly lessons with 32 daily lessons. The Student Book ($8.95 for eBook & $10.95 for a hard copy) includes lessons pages, timelines, memory verses, reviews and a map. The Teacher Book ($12.95 for eBook & $16.95 for a hard copy) contains lesson notes, timelines, stick figure drawings, a map, lesson goals, key points, memory verses, and review questions & answers. (Download and view sample lessons here.) In regards to supplies, students will need the Grapevine Studies Student book and colored pencils. Teachers will need the Grapevine Studies Teacher book, a Bible, a Bible dictionary, a dry erase board & markers (8 colors).

Can’t wait! We are very excited to “stick-figure” through the Bible some more! This school year we will be learning about and celebrating Biblical feasts. The Esther Grapevine study will tie in perfectly when we learn about Purim! Don’t you just love it when you can coordinate what you are learning and make it meaningful, memorable, and relevant all at the same time!

What I love most about Grapevine Studies: There are two main things that I absolutely love about Grapevine Studies!

1) All of my kids can work together on the lessons! I have found that I and the kids really enjoy when we are able to learn and work together! Plus, it means less work for me because I don’t have to teach different lessons to each of the kids!

2) The Teacher Book contain all of the info needed…right down to the pictures! For those of us who are not as artistically inclined, I really appreciate the fact that there are sample “stick-figures” for me to follow! Below is a sample page from the Teacher’s Book!

Ee for Elephant {MFW Kindergarten Printables}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
As much as I love the hands-on activities and crafts in our My Father’s World Kindergarten Curriculum, I was not very good about doing the Words to Remember badges with my daughter. So, I came up with something a little different for the boys. I created printable  art/copywork pages for them to work on their penmanship while creatively depicting the Words to Remember.

My Father's World Kindergarten Words to Remember: Ee for Elephant

This is the Lesson 15: Ee for Elephant page from one of my older boy’s kindergarten school year. All we used for this page was construction paper (pink, gray, white), wiggle eyes, something round for tracing (we used some plastic icing lids), and glue. Use the plastic lid to trace three circles onto the gray paper and two circles onto the pink paper. Cut out the gray circles on the traced lines and cut out the pink circles slightly smaller than the traced lines. Cut two small triangles out of the white paper and a rectangle from the gray.

Now you are ready to glue! First, glue each of the pink circles onto two of the gray circles and then adhere them to the page spaced apart to make the elephant ears. Next, glue the third gray circle in the middle of the ears to make the head. Slide the two triangles underneath the head for the tusks and glue. Adhere the rectangle trunk onto the head and then add the wiggle eyes. That’s it!

Visit the MFW Kindergarten Words to Remember blog post for information on downloading all of the Words to Remember copywork pages.

PLEASE NOTE: These copywork printables are only for students who are reading and writing easily. This type of copywork is not a regular part of My Father's World Kindergarten curriculum.

My Father's World Kindergarten Words to Remember: Hh for Horse

This is the Lesson 14: Hh for Horse page from one of my older boy’s kindergarten school year. All we used for this page was some brown construction paper, wiggle eyes, yarn, and glue. First, we traced one of the boy's shoes onto the construction paper and cut it out. We also cut two small triangles and one long rectangular piece.

Once everything was cut, we began gluing! First glue to rectangle (neck) angled onto the side of the page. Cut off the excess that hangs off the page. Next, adhere the traced shoe for the horse’s head. Slide the triangles (ears) underneath the head and glue. Add the eyes and the hair! Add two little marks for the nostrils and that completes the Hh Horse!

Mission of the Month: July 2012 {and June Accomplishments)

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
Welcome to Mama’s Mission of the Month! My hope is that this will help me {and you} follow through on some of the goals that we have set for the month! So, if you are a mama and you want to join in, check out the intro post! (If you have already read the rules, you can easily grab the buttons from the Buttons Tab on the top of the sidebar.)

Mission of the Month

June Mission Update:  Thanks to my new Mission of the Month Printable Checklist, I was able to get quite a bit more done this month. Here is how I did:

Personal:

1. Get up before the kids everyday during the week so that I can exercise, water the garden, and have my prayer time/Bible reading time. (Disclaimer: This is not applicable to our vacation time! LOL!!)

2. Memorize four new Bible scriptures with the kids! I have purchased The Discipleship Curriculum from Learn Christ to use for both myself and my kids!

3. Complete 10 scrapbook pages.

4. Make a printable Mama’s Mission of the Month chart as a visual to help encourage me to complete my missions! Download my Mission of the Month Printable Checklist here!

Marriage:

5. Re-instate date night!

6. Revisit our 2012 goals!

Parenting:

7. Change up the kid’s chore charts to make them “work” for us a little better.

8. Teach, train, and add at least one more responsibility to each child.

9. Work on finding a way to eliminate (or at least minimize) some of the yelling by me (and the kids). I’ve starting reading the book Good and Angry:Exchanging Frustration for Character in you and your Kids.

10. Make Give/Save/Spend pouches for the kids.

Homeschooling:

11. Decide on and read one read-aloud to the kids.

12. Begin planning for the upcoming school year.

13. Commit to the Index Card a Day challenge (except during our vacation). Check out some of our cards!

Homemaking:

14. Clean out the garage.

15. Try making sour dough bread from a starter. This will have to be put off until July!

Ministry/Friendships/Extended Family:

16. Write 2 letters.

17. Begin having Cosby Show marathons with our friends! We were blessed with a movie projector so we were able to watch the shows under the stars! It was a blast!

Financial:

18. Update our budget.

Blogging/Online Activity:

19. Finish transferring all of my printable files over from 4shared to my MamaJenn.com site. Ugh…almost done!

20. Update my printable page to include ALL of my free printables. Still needs a bit more work!

I did get a lot more done, but I still a few things left to do. So…

Mission NOT Accomplished YET

My Mission for July 2012:

For the month of July, I am keeping it simple. I basically want to spent time planning for the upcoming school year and having some good ole’ fun with the kids! I have lots more that I would like to accomplish, but I figure I’ll be doing good to get all this done and anything extra is icing on the cake! So, here goes!

Personal:

1. Continue getting up before the kids everyday during the week so that I can exercise and have my prayer time/Bible reading time.

2. Complete 10 scrapbook pages.

Marriage:

3. Go on two more date nights!

Parenting:

4. Make Give/Save/Spend pouches for the kids.

5. Plan fun activities into my and the kids daily schedule.

Homeschooling:

6. Begin planning and preparing to use The Discipleship Curriculum.

Homemaking:

7. Try making sour dough bread from a starter.

Ministry/Friendships/Extended Family:

8. Write 2 letters.

9. Plan another movie night under the stars with friends!

Blogging/Online Activity:

10. Finish transferring all of my printable files over from 4shared to my MamaJenn.com site.

11. Update my printable page to include ALL of my free printables.

What is your July mission of the month?

If you participated last month, how did you do?

Feel free to link up and share! It is a great way to hold yourself accountable! For more information on how to join in, please read the intro post. The linky will be open until midnight, July 5th.
