Whenever I am out with my kids, I am often asked the same general questions. I guess it is not everyday that you see a mom with two sets of twins! LOL!! This is usually how the conversation goes:
1) Are they all yours? Yes!
2) Are they [the older boys] twins? Yes!
3) Are they [the older boys] identical? Yes!
4) Wait, do you have two sets of twins? Yes!
5) Are they [the younger boys] identical? No, they are fraternal.
6) How does that [two sets of twins] happen? SHORT ANSWER: When you already have a set of twins, the odds of having another set actually increases! LONG ANSWER: God has a sense of humor! My grandmother had a set of twins, so I knew there was a chance I could have twins. I distinctly remember telling God that I didn’t mind having twins, I just wanted to start out with one…that way I wouldn’t “mess up” two kids (as a first time mom)! LOL! Well, apparently he heard me! I had my daughter followed by two sets of twins (with a miscarriage between the twins).
7) Are they natural? This is usually a “discrete” way of asking if we used fertility treatments. SHORT ANSWER: Yes, the are natural! LONG ANSWER: We did not use any sort of fertility treatments. They are all “natural.” In fact, I delivered four of my five kids completely natural…no pain medication/no epidural. After delivering one of the younger twins naturally, I had to deliver his brother via emergency cesarean.
8) What did you do when you found out you were having another set of twins? SHORT ANSWER: I cried in complete shock! LONG ANSWER: Well, without looking at the ultrasound monitor, my doctor (who also delivered my first set of twins) joked about me being pregnant with another set of twins. As she was slapping jelly on my belly, I glanced at the monitor (before she did) and gasped! In complete shock, I cried and my doctor laughed!
8) How does your daughter like having all those brothers? She likes being the princess, but wishes she had a sister to play with.
9) You’ve got your hands full! How do you do it? At the end of the day, I often ask myself the same question!
10) Are you going to try for another set of twins? The factory has been shut down! LOL!
We have a winner! Congratulations to commenter #131, Kelly Jowers!

Do you want your children to have a greater understanding of the world’s most important book, the Bible? Do you want to be able to explain the Bible to your children in a way that they really understand? Then, What’s in the Bible? is for you {and me}! This DVD collection truly is the "Bible made easy for kids” (and adults too)!
What is What’s in the Bible?
What’s in the Bible? is a new DVD series from VeggieTales creator Phil Vischer. It walks children through the entire Bible in a fun, engaging way. Currently there are 8 DVDs in the collection that take you chronically from Genesis through the Song of Solomon plus the Why Do We Call it Christmas? DVD. While the popular stories of the Bible are explained, tough concepts such as free-will are also addressed in such a way that even children can understand!
Our Thoughts
We are huge Veggie Tales fans, so I knew we would love What’s in the Bible?! In fact, we currently own volumes 1-6 and the Christmas DVD. I found that not only does What’s in the Bible? make the Bible easy for kids, but the DVDs have enlightened me on various Biblical topics, all in a fun and engaging manner! Our entire family loves watching the What’s in the Bible? DVDs and are looking forward to adding them all to our collection!
About Volume 1: In the Beginning
What’s in the Bible? Volume 1 is all about the beginning! It covers the book of Genesis and answers the following two questions:
Volume 1 covers the popular Bible stories from the book of Genesis such as Adam and Eve, the story of creation, Noah’s Ark, and more. But it also delves into the explanation of how the Bible was inspired and written and even digs into Bible history! Not only did we ALL laugh and have fun, but we were also educated all at the same time!
Volume 1 Extras!
After watching the Volume 1 DVD multiple times, the kids asked for some What’s in the Bible?coloring pages.
Much to my surprise, not only did I find coloring pages to go along with Volume 1, but I also found a study guide for parent’s to use with their children, Bible flashcards to help reinforce what the children learned in the DVD, plus lot of crafts/games…all for Volume 1 of What’s in the Bible?!
Needless to say, we L.O.V.E. What’s in the Bible? and I am excited to give you an opportunity to win a What’s in the Bible? DVD!

Upon the arrival of our BabbaBox from BabbaCo, I had two ecstatic 4 year olds and two slightly jealous 7 year olds! The boys could not wait to get their hands on this amazing activity box for kids!
About the BabbaBox
Designed for children ages 3-6, the BabbaBox is a monthly subscription, theme-based activity box that comes delivered to your home jam packed with ALL the materials, instructions, and content needed to really engage your children!
Each theme-based box includes 4 major components:
CREATE: Each box contains 2 to 3 crafts and ALL the supplies needed to complete each craft!
EXPLORE: Each box, designed by a panel of experts, is theme-based to help children relate to and explore the world around them.
STORY TELL: Each box contains a book to go along with the theme.
CONNECT: Each box contains materials and links for interactive learning with prepaid downloads approved by BabbaCo experts.
Our {Feelings} BabbaBox
Our BabbaBox theme was FEELINGS! After the boys had a chance to “ooh” and “ahh” over all of the materials, we sat down and read the book together! I was so impressed with how my boys responded to the story! I felt like the old adage of treating others how you want to be treated really hit home with them! “I am friendly because I like it when someone is friendly to me.”
I even caught my daughter reading the book to my little guys again later in the day…in their favorite reading spot of course!
After we read the book, the boys were all set to get started on the crafts.
Craft Time Just Got Easier!
I {heart} organization! When I opened the box I discovered that each of the crafts (along with the instructions and all of the needed supplies) were neatly packaged in zip bags. Oh, the joy!!! This made craft time so much easier! I didn’t have to hunt around the house for supplies! Absolutely EVERYTHING that we needed was included in each bag!
Our BabbaBox Craft Projects
Our first activity was making Feeling Magnets! After some discussion about feelings (thanks to the book), my 4 year olds decided to let my 7 year olds participate! (They thought about how their big brothers would feel if there were not able to do the craft also…so sweet!)
After coloring the feeling faces and cutting them out (YES, the colored pencils and the scissors were included), we added the magnets (which were also included)!
It was so cute seeing my boys changing the faces in their feelings box based on how there were feeling throughout the day!
Our second activity was the Feelings Finders activity. My boys LOVED using the special glasses that not only allowed them to “see” how people were feeling by their facial expression but also allowed them to see behind them through the mirrors on the sides of the lenses!
As the boys “spied” out different feelings on people’s faces, they added the corresponding face sticker in their Feelings Journal!
Our final craft was making Sock Puppets! This was our favorite BabbaCo Feelings activity! The boys not only enjoyed being able to make their very own puppets, but they had even more fun playing with Mr. Henry Sock and Mr. Conner Sock! (Yes, even though Mr. Henry is pink, HE is a BOY!)
There was even a treat for me in the box! The card reads:
I know the “feeling” I get a lot as a parent is…stress. So much to juggle and handle! This is one of my favorite ways to de-stress in 5 minutes. Have your partner, friend, or even your child rub your back with this massager! Ahh…even a few minutes makes a difference!
It was so cute when one of my 4 year olds sat and “massaged” my back! He kept asking me how it felt! (The feelings theme was really sinking in!) It seems it was as much fun for him as it was relaxing for me!
Our Final Thoughts on the BabbaBox
Needless to say, we loved using our BabbaBox! The boys are already asking when the next box will arrive! I love that everything needed is included! This definitely makes crafting with children a lot easier and a lot more fun!
The BabbaBox is perfect for the parent who wants to do fun, engaging crafts and activities with their child, but doesn’t want the hassle of gathering all the ideas, books, and supplies!

Like you, I wear many hats and juggle lots of activities. Yet, I often find myself wishing that I was more diligent in so many areas of my life! I’m talking big things like daily prayer and Bible reading to little things like flossing my teeth regularly. I have decided that NOW is the time to stop wishing and actually start making some changes! So, I am launching 21 Days to Becoming {the me that I really want to be}.
I often hear that one should begin with the end in mind and I do have a vision of the me that I really want to be…when it is all said and done. I hope that by deliberately putting forth the effort to form some of the habits that I long to have will bring me one step closer to the me that I really want to be. So, if you would like to join along, feel free to download the printable that I created for myself.
How to Use the 21 Days of Becoming Printable
First decide on ONE habit. Write down the reason for the wanting to develop the habit. I have found this helpful because it helps to remind me why it is important for me to be diligent in creating the habit. It helps me avoid giving up!
Next, find some sort of quote of scripture to encourage you to forge ahead and push through to form your habit. Mark you start date and the goal date, which should be 21 days from the start date.
Finally, start forming your habit! Each day put a check mark in the appropriate box under the column labeled 1st attempt. If you slip up and miss a day, start your 21 days of habit forming over using the 2nd attempt column. Once you have spent 21 consecutive days forming your habit, mark your completion date and celebrate because you are one habit closer to becoming “the me that I really want to be!”
When I first received the DVD, I was thrilled. But, once I actually watched the DVD and downloaded the study guide, I was completely and utterly amazed and excited about all that we were learning and would learn about monarch butterflies!
About the Your Backyard Monarch Butterfly DVD
First, take a peek at the two photos below.
These are photos that I took of the monarch butterfly and caterpillar on my television screen! Yes, these are the type of up-close-and-personal butterfly clips found on the Your Backyard Monarch Butterfly DVD! This is about as close to the real thing as you can get! Simply amazing! There is even footage of a caterpillar forming its chrysalis AND a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis!
Did you know…
Did you know that caterpillars enter the chrysalis completely blind? Did you know that monarch butterflies only lay their eggs on milkweed plants? Can you tell the difference between a male and female monarch butterfly? These questions and many, many more are addressed in the DVD.
About the Your Backyard Monarch Butterfly e-Study Guide
While the DVD provides an extreme wealth of information, I was even more amazed at the wealth of information and resources provided in the corresponding Monarch Butterfly e-Study Guide!
The downloadable and printable companion e-study guide provides a whopping 100+ pages of resources and printables! Included in the study guide are:
Vocabulary words, fill-in-the-blank, true/false questions and circle the answer
Short essay questions
Section reviews
Video discussion questions
Coloring pages and Venn diagrams
Copywork selections
Further study opportunity for older students
Nature study
Observation worksheets
Notebooking pages
And more!!!
Below are some of the pages that I printed from the e-study guide that we have already enjoyed using!
One of my 4 year olds coloring a monarch butterfly:
One of my 7 year olds using one of the monarch butterfly notebooking pages for drawing and copywork:
My 8 year old distinguishing between a male and female monarch butterfly and using a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the monarch and viceroy butterflies:
Plus, there are also printables included for making both a lapbook and a keepsake mini book!
Below is the beginning of my daughter’s mini book.
Our Thoughts About Your Backyard Monarch Butterfly DVD & e-Study Guide
In case you can’t tell, I am extremely excited about the Monarch Butterfly DVD and Study Guide. Every time I thought the DVD was about to end, more incredible information was presented!
After watching the DVD for the first time, my kids have asked to watch it again numerous times! While we have watched the DVD multiple times, we have only begun a few of the activities in the study guide. I am saving it for a complete unit study on butterflies in our upcoming school year! The kids are excited and so am I! Between the DVD and the study guide, I will have all of the resources needed for a completely awesome unit study on the monarch butterfly!
I am also excited that the content is for children of all ages! I will be able to use the unit study for all of my kids ranging in age from 4 to almost 9 years old! Learning is so much more fun for the kids and enjoyable for me when we can do it together!
What I love most is that the awe of God’s miraculous creation is infused throughout the entire DVD!! You will walk away feeling even more amazed at Our Father’s wonderful creation!

When Ami from Walking by the Way and Homeschool Share offered me a review copy of Copywork Lessons for Future Heroes, I jumped on the opportunity! We regularly include copywork in our homeschool and we have four future heroes {aka boys}. So, I knew the lessons would be a perfect fit!
About Copywork Lessons for Future Heroes
Copywork Lessons for Future Heroes is a PDF collection of 150 days (passages) of copywork lessons for boys providing them with “true, noble, and excellent things to think about.” While Ami created this collection with her own boys in mind, she is graciously sharing the fruit of her labor so that we too, can use the copywork lessons to help build up our own future heroes!
The copywork is designed for grades 3 and up. However, younger boys who are familiar with copywork can also benefit from this resource as well (as did my rising 2nd graders)!
The copywork passages include Bible scriptures, quotes, poems and fables. The passages cover topics including perseverance, honesty, courage, hard work, and more! Included are quotations from great athletes, inventors, presidents, authors, etc including:
George Washington
Socrates
Albert Einstein
John Wesley
William Shakespeare
George Washington Carver, and more!
Contemporary heroes included are:
John Wooten
Arthur Ashe
Christopher Reeve, and more.
Also included are Aesop's fables and poems by Robert Frost and Rudyard Kipling.
How we use Copywork for Future Heroes
First, I printed the PDF file, slid all the pages into page protectors, and put them in a 3-ring binder.
Since the pages are in page protectors, I can easily use a dry erase marker to circle the passage that I want the boys to copy.
In this case, the my son copied 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. We used blank writing pages found on my Writing Prinables page.
After copying the passage, my son creatively depicted the passage in the space at the top of the page. {I just love the little muscles on the “strong, faithful heart”!}
I am extremely excited to fully implement the copywork lessons into our homeschool. I plan to select copywork passages that coincide with what we are studying in school either by author or topic. Plus, I will use the copywork lessons to help reinforce some habits and character traits that my boys may need some additional help with!
What I Love About Copywork for Future Heroes
I love that Ami has done the work for me! I can easily flip through the pages and find passage after passage that can help build character in my boys! In all honesty, I could just randomly flip to a page and select a passage, knowing that it will be appropriate and applicable for my boys as I strive to help them think on those things that are true, noble, and excellent!
On a more technical note, I really like the enlarged font! It is very easy for my boys to read, which is a HUGE bonus when copying passages!
Purchase Copywork for Future Heroes
Do you want to help your son think on what is “true, noble, and excellent” as they grow and mature into a man? Be sure to head over to Walking by the Way! You can purchase Copywork for Future Heroes for only $5!
This product was given to me for review purposes. I do not have to return the product to the vendor and I was not paid for this post. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
