Princesses & Frogs Game Board {printable}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.

PrincessesAndFrogsI made the Princesses & Frogs game board over a year ago for my daughter who wanted a girly alternative to playing the Racing Racecars game. However, I have since created a webpage to host the download…which means instant downloading…no more 4shared waiting time!  Winking smile

I have also become a bit more “computer savvy” since I first made this game. So, if you downloaded the old game, you may have noticed in this new game that all of the princess are facing the same direction!

The game is very easy to play and lots of fun! My now 7 year old daughter still likes to play it! Plus it is a fun way for younger children to work on counting and number recognition.

Directions: Use a 1-6 numbered dice of some sort. (We love using our Education Cubes with the dot insert cards or the number insert cards. But, you can definitely use a standard dice with this one!)

Simply, roll the dice/cube and mark off the corresponding number on the game board. Help each of the princesses follow the floral path to get to their frog prince! (i.e. Mark off all of the numbers and place a check mark in the box at the end of the path.)

As a special treat, be sure to add a photo of your little princess to the game board!

Helpful Hints: Reuse the same game board (and save on paper) by using dry erase markers and sliding the game board into a page protector OR laminate if for added durability. I recommend the Scotch Thermal Laminator.

Visit the Princesses & Frog Game Board page to download!

Jelly Bean Prayer Jars {with printable cards}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
We just finished up making some jelly beans jars with Jelly Bean Prayer cards attached. This is such a fun way to celebrate Easter and share the Good News of Christ’s Resurrection!

006

This year we used some old {clean} baby food jars. No, my kids do NOT still eat baby food. But, YES, I do tend to save things that I think we could craft with in the future! My husband didn’t really understand why I wanted to pack these empty jars when we were in the process of moving. But as you can see, I have found a use for them!  Smile

image

I also wanted to let you know that I have created a brand new webpage to host my printable Jelly Bean Prayer Cards! There are three different cards to choose from! Be sure to head on over and check them out! {A new webpage means no more 4shared download waiting time.} Winking smile

Visit my NEW Jelly Bean Prayer page to download the printable cards!

Happy Easter!!!

Magdalena: Through Her Eyes {Giveaway & Review}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
imageWhen I began to look at some of the videos and the movie trailer for Magdalena, I immediately thought of my daughter. Yes, she is only 7 years old, but I want her to always know how much God loves and cares for her, regardless of the trials and circumstances that she may face in the future. What I wasn’t prepared for was how much the movie would speak to me about God’s concern for all that concerns me!

Magdalena: Through Her Eyes, is the story of Jesus from a woman’s perspective. Mary Magdalene’s life is radically transformed when Jesus heals her, giving her a new purpose for life. She follows Jesus and witnesses many other women who experience changed lives through the compassionate and loving power of Jesus.

Women who are shamed find pride and gain respect. Women who are defeated overcome. Women who are broken are restored and made whole. Women who are hurting experience miraculous healing. Women who are hopeless are comforted and encouraged. Follow along as women experience grace, love, mercy, compassion, hope, healing and blessings from Jesus Christ as they realize that God really does care about them!

Yes, He is our loving pursuer, our gracious forgiver, and our power for living. He is our powerful deliverer, our compassionate provider and our complete restorer. He is our living water; our lifelong friend!

image

Would you or other women in our life benefit from a fresh and powerful look at God’s amazing love for women? Share this experience by hosting a Magdalena showing in your home, church, or place of ministry. Everything you need to host a Magdalena event has already been designed and is available at www.MagdalenaToday.com.

Mama’s Mission of the Month {April Mid-month Reminder}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
Mission of the MonthAlright, all you mama’s who are participating in Mama’s Mission of the Month for April, this is the April Mid-month reminder about the goals that we set for the month of April. With the month more than half-way over, I just wanted to check in to see how you all are doing!

As for me, the month is chugging right along. Our new classroom is FINALLY organized how I want it! Hopefully I will be able to post pics soon! I have added some fun new stuff that the kids are enjoying! I have also been using our new Calendar Board. Before the month is over I will share pics and printables with you!  Smile I still need to finish our chore/job system and I need to read up about my daughter’s Flag Page. Plus, I need to actually try to implement some of the stuff I learned from A Day of Delight.

So, fortunately for me there are still a few days left in the month for me to complete the rest of my goals! I will not be cooking the “BIG” Easter dinner this year, which means that I should have some extra time to make sure all my goals get done! (I am so thankful to have found an AWESOME church and we have even begun to make friends…one of which has invited us over for Easter!) I am determined to get that “checkmark” again! Two weeks in a row…I’m on a mission!  Smile

With that said how are you coming along with your April Mission of the Month? Feel free to leave a comment letting us know how your mission is going! {No, you don’t have to leave an update comment. And yes, you will still be able to write your complete Accomplished post and link it up at the end of the month. The update comment is simply a way of keeping you on track with completing the goals you have set for the month.}

If you have no clue what the Mama’s Mission of the Month is all about, it is basically a monthly blog carnival designed to help me {and you} follow through on some of the goals that we have set for the month! For more information or if you want to know how to join in next month, check out the intro post!

Interlox {A Guidecraft Mom Review & Giveaway Link}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.

Guidecraft has done it yet again! Much to my surprise, my kids absolutely LOVE their new building toy! So, what is it that my kids are completely enamored with?

imageInterlox

In all honesty, I figured they would play with them for a day or two and then move on. Well, that is NOT the case! My kids have played with their Interlox EVERYDAY for the last 2 weeks and they STILL wake up asking to go play with them!

Interlox are colorful, transparent, plastic 2” squares that simply slide and clip into each other…no tools/screws required! The set contains 96 pieces in 6 different colors (pink, orange, yellow, blue, green & purple).  Each square has a shape on it (heart, circle, star, diamond, square, octagon, or flower).

As I said, we have had LOTS of creative fun with our new favorite building toySmile

We sort and stack them…

011014

We make patterns with them…

020

We build with them…

012

And we build some more…

016

And this is when the kids really start getting creative…

014

Each day they come up with another way to play with their Interlox. One of their favorite (and most creative) ways to play is by making an Interlox animal home! This is one of the MANY animal homes they have created!

019

I often mention how much I LOVE building toys that spark creativity! Interlox definitely fit the bill. My kids have spent hours and hours creating and building with them. My/our only complaint is that we want more…lots more! Infact, the kids asked me to add Interlox to our family wishlist! With a few birthdays coming up, we hope to add another set to our collection!

Win it! Cindy at Along the Way is hosting a giveaway for a set of Interlox.  The giveaway is open until Monday, April 25th! Head on over and enter to win!!!

Buy It! If you can’t wait to win, you can purchase a set of Interlox directly from the Guidecraft website or you can purchase it via Amazon!

As a Guidecraft Mom blogger, this product was given to me for review purposes. I do not have to return the product to the vendor and I was not paid for this post. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.

Flap, Flap, & Fly {Printable} Game Board

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
After reading Baby Bird by Joyce Dunbar, I was inspired to make this fun little game to go along with. Then I saw the cute little blue bird graphic and I just KNEW I had to use it for the game! Doesn’t it kind of look like Baby Bird from the book!?!?! Check out  the Flap, Flap & Fly game board!

Flap Flap Fly Game Board

The book, Baby Bird, is about a determined little birdie who wants to learn to fly. Although he first climbed out of his nest and flop..flop..and fell, Baby Bird doesn't let anything stop him from learning to flap..flap..and fly! (Hence the name of the game!)

BabyBirdBook

imageDirections: Use the game board to help Baby Bird flap, flap, and fly out of his nest by moving along until he reaches the end, where he has learned to fly! To play the game, you will need the Education Cubes insert cards designed specifically for this game board. You can access the Flap, Flap, & Fly insert cards by joining the Education Cubes Members Only Site.

Helpful Hint: We like to use our game board on a magnetic cookie sheet. (I found some suitable ones at the Dollar Tree.) For the marker, we use one of our puff ball magnets. This helps to make sure that the boys don’t loose their place on the game board amidst all of the fun and crazy stunts they use to roll their Education Cubes! They ALWAYS have so much fun when they use their Education Cubes!Winking smile

 Download the Flap, Flap, & Flay Game Board here!

“The Crossmaker” DVD Easter Story & Art Lessons {Giveaway}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.
We have been fortunate enough to review quite a few DVDs from See The Light and we have been thrilled with all of them! So, if was no surprise that I would jump at the opportunity to review and host a giveaway for The Crossmaker.

image

The Crossmaker Art DVD is not JUST about teaching art to your children. It is completely Biblically based with the focus of “drawing children to Him!” The Crossmaker contains 150 minutes of Easter content, including:

  • The Crossmaker: The Easter Story is artfully brought to life through the captivating artwork of See The Light chalk artist Gloria Kohlmann. “Dominic, the son of a carpenter, finds himself drawn into the unforgettable trial of the man called Jesus. Share in this amazing adventure that takes Dominic from Christ’s crucifixion to a place of redemption, and a face-to-face meeting with the risen Christ”. (from the DVD description)
  • GLORY! Art Lesson: Learn creative lettering with the word, GLORY, from artist Heidi Shorts.
  • He is Not Here! He is Risen! Art Lesson: Follow Master Teacher Pat Knepley in a step-by step drawing lesson using chalk pastels, create your own black light reveal!
  • Three Crosses on a Hill Art Lesson: Create your own water color painting with artist Jim Pence.
  • Musical Art: Watch chalk-artist Gloria Kholmann draw her incredible interpretation of the Easter Story while listening to the music of  “Breathing Room” featuring recording artists Jan Roper and Kevin Dukes.
  • Plan of Salvation: Lead little ones to CHrist with this remarkably simple, yet creative presentation of the plan of salvation.
  • Listen to chalk artist Gloria Kohlmann’s commentary as she creates her Easter artwork.
  • Meet the See The Light team

My kids and I absolutely LOVED this DVD, especially the Easter Story! It was so touching to see the artwork unfold through the retelling of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ! Since my kids are familiar with See The Light, they were excited to start on the art lessons. They especially loved the creative lettering and the watercolor artwork.

As expected we thoroughly enjoyed The Crossmaker! As with The Gift of Love, our ONLY disappointments were in our lack of art supplies.  We didn’t have the fluorescent chalk or the optional extreme colored pencils and black light that are used to illuminate the focal points in the artwork. My kids have asked me enough times, that I am planning to purchase these later this month (as a special surprise) so that they can use them to create their own black light reveals.

imageFYI, you can purchase these items separately or you can purchase The Crossmaker Ultimate Gift Set which contains all of these materials, including the DVD! Or, for a limited time you can head over to the See The Light Blog for a chance to win this awesome set!

Needless to say, we are fans of The Crossmaker…beautiful art, excellent instruction, and moving music, all while focusing on the wonderful story of our Risen Savior!

Still not convinced? Take a peek at The Crossmaker promo:

Be sure to head over to the See The Light website. You will find all kinds of fun stuff, including free lessons! The Crossmaker can be purchased from Amazon or from the See The Light website.

~Giveaway is now closed~

imageWe absolutely LOVE Golden Bear by Ruth Young.

It is such a cute, simple book about a cute, little boy and his perfect companion, Golden Bear. Follow along as they rock in a rocking chair, talk to a little bug, build a snowman, watch the tulips grow and much more!

This is such an adorable little book about a little boys’ adventures with his special bear friend that It was no surprise that we chose the book for the bear theme for Once Upon a Book on Totally Tots.

Mission of the Month: April 2011 {and March Accomplishments}

This post may contain affiliate or advertiser links. Please review my disclosure policy.

Welcome to Mama’s Mission of the Month! My hope is that this will help me {and you} follow through on some of the goals that we have set for the month! So, if you are a mama and you want to join in, check out the intro post! (If you have already read the rules, you can easily grab the buttons from the Buttons Tab on the top of the sidebar.)

Mission of the Month

March Mission Update: My mission for this month was to FINALLY finish reading Small Changes for a Better Life and the Worn Out Woman: When Your Life is Full and Your Spirit is Empty. Plus, I wanted to get back on track with our homeschool since making a huge move to another state. Well, I am so excited to FINALLY be able to say that I accomplished my goals for this month! Yay!!!

Mission Accomplished

imageimage

I enjoyed both books and I am hoping to be able to post a review of them in the future...for now, it will suffice to say that I am L.O.V.E.D the Elizabeth George book. Give me step by step instructions and I am golden! More to come… Smile

As for school, we are chugging along. It has been great to finally start to regain a sense of normalcy, though we are still having a few rough patches here and there.

My Mission for April 2011: I am feeling pretty good about my March accomplishments, so for April, I want to “set it up!” Here is what I hope to accomplish:

~ Finish organizing our classroom. Although “school is back in session,” I still need to put the finishing touches on our little classroom.

~ Post about our new Calendar Board. Before we moved I came up with a new twist on our old Calendar Board. I plan to share what we are doing along with the printables that I made to go along with it.

~ Finish our Chore/Job system. Our previous chore system isn’t working so well anymore, so I have been toying with a few new ideas. Plus, the kids want to start earning some money…hence my need for a Chore/Job system.

image~ Use Flag Page with the kids. I have the opportunity to review Kids Flag Page and I can’t wait to find out a bit more about my kids and discover their hearts! I am really excited about this because we used the adult version of Flag Page a number of years ago after seeing Mark Gungor at a Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage Conference. (FYI, I loved the conference…my stomach was aching from laughing so hard!!)

~ Read and implement A Day of Delight.  I won this book from the new Doorposts blog and I can’t wait to put an end to some of our Sunday craziness and transform it into a day of delight!

Well, that’s it…if it isn’t enough, right?!?!? I told you I am feeling good about my March accomplishments!  Smile

What is your March mission of the month?

If you participated last month, how did you do?

Feel free to link up and share! It is a great way to hold yourself accountable! For more information on how to join in, please read the intro post. The linky will be open until midnight, April 5th.
