The Birthday Boy’s Cake Choices

My oldest set of twins celebrated their birthday earlier this month. It is so hard to believe that they are now five years old!!!! As I was planning for their birthday, I asked them what kind of cake they wanted. DC wanted a cake based on the movie Cars and JJ wanted a pizza cake. DC’s cake of choice was easy! I just made a chocolate cake and printed off Cars clipart to decorate it. Well, JJ’s cake was not so easy. In fact, it took alot of thought…he wanted a pizza cake that really looked like a pizza, but was sweet like a cake. This is what I came up with and boy was he pleased…and so was I!!!  :-)

I made pizza dough in my bread machine and baked it in the oven. Once I took it out, I brushed it with melted butter and sprinkled on sugar. The “sauce” was actually strawberry jam. The “cheese” was shredded white chocolate and the “pepperoni” was fruit roll-ups cut into circles. (My kids had NO IDEA about the pepperoni…they had never had fruit roll-ups before.)

album 5.6.10 009Both cakes were a big hit and believe it or not, they both tasted pretty good…much to my surprise!  :-)
