Bible Verse Memory Books

I have gotten a number of questions basically about our homeschool. So, I have decided to start a series of posts about some of our routines, etc. Plus, I have created a number of printables that I use that help me out tremendously. I plan to share those in hopes that they will help someone else in their homeschool journey.

So, something that has worked well for us are these little books to help the kids (and me) memorize their Bible verses. All they are are little mini albums for 4x6 inch photos. I took out the cover page and let the kids decorate their own. I also typed up and printed out the "Hiding God's Word in my Heart" and glued in onto their cover page. You can download the little cover page here. My kids love their little books and I have noticed that they are doing alot better at retaining their verses.

I print the verses from various sites and I make my own (I will be posting mine in the next few weeks). I print them onto 4x6 inch blank index cards....as if I were printing 4x6 inch photos. Here is a little tip...some of sites just have the verses on an 8.5x11 inch page. To size them down to fit in our 4x6 index cards, I simply resize the print size to 4x6 and adjust the scale to fit the page. Print and let the kids tuck them into their albums. (Does this make any sense???)

In addition to putting the cards in their little books, I print an 8.5x11 to hang on our Bible board in our schoolroom...as a reminder to me and the kids. (I have to do this, otherwise...out of site...out of mind...I will forget to ask the kids about their verses.) PLUS, I also print an extra 4x6 to post on my kitchen cabinets. This way I remember to talk about their verses...even if we are not in our schoolroom. (Like I said, out of site...out of mind.) Having them posted in the kitchen has been super helpful.

This is one of the things that I am doing to raise my rock stars!!!
