So, I get there and fortunately Costco has buggies that can seat two kids and the basket part is big. So, I put the babies in the seats and the boys in the basket. KJ got to ride holding onto the cart. So, I figured with everyone "immobile"...unable to run away from me, everything would be good. Hmmmmm...what was I thinking. So, we get there and I load everyone in the cart. I picked up our Christmas cards (a whole other story...) and begin moving up and down the isles. I didn't have a WHOLE lot to get, but with four kids already in the cart, there really isn't a whole lot of room for much else. So, as I am squeezing stuff under the cart and in the basket underneath legs, on top of feet, etc. The boys started to complain about not having enough room. So, I am like speed racer going through the store. I figured that if I looked like I was on a mission, that it would be less likely that people would stop and comment. Boy, was I wrong!!! It was like the faster I moved, the more people stopped me. It got to the point where I "ignored" some of the comments and kept rushing by as if I didn't hear them. You would not believe how many people stopped me saying things like:
"Wow, you have your hands full!"
"Are they all yours?"
"Is that two sets of twins?"
"How old are they?"
"Are they natural?" (Btw, they are...no fertility treatments.)
"Double trouble!" (Btw, I would rather think of it as being doubly blessed.)
So, needless to say, my trip was prolonged by all of the "conversations". But, we made it! But, by the time we were at the check out, the babies were starting to melt down and the boys were beyond ready to get out of the buggy. So, at the height of my frustration, I notice that everyone is just starring at us (not in a bad way...they just looked amused). So, I found myself yelling out to everyone, "I am sorry". It was so cute, because people started telling me it is okay and that the kids did a great job..."
Now, the trip was not that bad, except for being stopped to talk so many times and the end part when the kids were just ready to go. But, I was worn out by the time I got everyone back in the car to go home. And, would you believe, as soon as I got everyone in the car, I realized that I had forgotten to get eggs. Did I unload everyone and go back in?!?!?! NO WAY!!!

Welcome to my main blog!

My gosh Jenn, I have a hard enough time at Costco by myself. Kudos to you for braving the trip.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are brave! I can barely make it through the store with my two - and I do the same as you, put one in the seat and the other in the basket (when I put them next to each other in the double seat they fight). A lot of the time, I will bathe them, get them dressed for bed and have Hubby drive me to the store just at bedtime. They are usually asleep by the time we get there. He gets to sit in the car in and listen to his music and talk to his buddies or play games on his cell phone while I shop in peace! AND I have a helper for loading the bags into the trunk and bringing them into the house!
ReplyDeleteI love the "are they natural" comment. I bet you felt like saying, "no they are robots." Or better yet, you should have said, "no, they are artificial." tee hee hee....
ReplyDeleteI so understand...especially the comments. We also have 5 children, a singleton & 2 sets of twins. We started saving $1 every time we hear, "you have your hands full." We've got about $300 saved up since January.
